Renovation Update: Almost to the Phase 1 Finish Line

What a year it has been! Between shifting playgrounds, navigating the new bus loop, and watching the steel and brick turn into an incredible two-story building, our school family has had a front-row seat to an amazing transformation.

Phase 1 is almost across the finish line!

Good things take time, so while the final construction polish is underway, students will start the school year in previously assigned grade level classrooms. We anticipate Labor Day for our grand move-in day for students!

Here is a sneak peek at what’s waiting inside:

  • Bright new classroom for Preschool and Grades 3, 4, and 5

  • Dedicated spaces for Art, Advanced Academics, General Music, Band, Strings, Technology, Multiage, SACC, and Counseling

  • A beautiful new cafeteria featuring tile artwork created by our very own students!

And the excitement doesn't stop there—Phase 2 is expected to start in September with renovations for the back of our main school building.

Thank you for your energy, patience, and ongoing support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone into these amazing new spaces very soon! Updates will be shared as move-in day approaches!

The New ParentVue

The new ParentVUE mobile app launched on July 28. The classic app will remain available for approximately six months, but families must transition by December 2026. Multi-factor authentication is available and recommended.

FCPS Identification Cards

Every FCPS student will receive an identification card. Bus riders will be expected to tap their cards when boarding and exiting each day.

BMP & Community Eligibility Provision Meals

Bren Mar Park is a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, as implemented under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.  All students at BMP will be provided a nutritious breakfast and lunch each day at no charge.  Children may choose to not participate and families may choose to send in lunch from home (with the exception of the PreK program).

Ways to Help Your Child at Home

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) offers tips and resources to families which can be used at home, even during the summer, to help their child with literacy (reading and writing) skills.  One resource shared is the National Center for Improving Literacy, which offer information for families as well as at home reading activities for students in kindergarten through grade 5.

                      - Reading together.

                      - Telling stories.

                      - Playing audiobooks.

                      - Labeingl items in your home.

                      - Playing word games.

                      - Talking about the meanings of words.

                      - Pointing out interesting or new words together.

                      - Having words visible in many areas for your child.

                      - Talking with your child.

                      - Modeling reading for your child.
