Colombia's President Abelardo de la Espriella has declared a national disaster after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the western Chocó region at 7:34am local time on Monday. A video from the city of Pereira, in the country's coffee-growing region, shows a four-story building collapsing. In Manizales, footage shows the damage to a church tower and other buildings. Local authorities said more than 110 people have died and the death toll is likely to rise. The Colombian Geological Service said that the earthquake is the strongest recorded in the country in the last decade. The shaking was also felt in neighbouring Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela, which was hit by twin earthquakes in June that killed more than 6,100 people.
