Dear Sunrise Valley Families,
There is a unique kind of energy that builds in a school right before the doors open for a new year, and our hallways are officially ready to come alive again. We are excited to welcome you, whether returning or new, to what promises to be a fabulous 2026–27 school year.
Our core focus this year is built on a foundation of instructional excellence and a community that comes together for student success. At Sunrise Valley, we believe in nurturing the whole child, recognizing that the social and emotional needs of our students are just as vital as their academic growth. To support this, we will continue to foster instructional rigor while revisiting our school-wide expectations around RISE (Respect, Independence, Safety & Empathy). Sunrise Valley is a collective community where every individual brings unique strengths; anchoring ourselves in RISE ensures we create an environment where all students can grow and contribute together. More communication about what RISE looks like at SVES and how you can reinforce these values at home will be shared soon through our family newsletter.
As we prepare for the year ahead, please look for an email by Thursday, August 20 notifying you of your child’s classroom teacher for the upcoming school year. Our teachers are excited to meet each of your children and begin building the strong, meaningful relationships that are at the heart of a wonderful school year.
We hope to see you at our annual Open House on Friday, August 21, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, greet new and familiar classmates, and drop off school supplies before the first day. If you purchased school supplies from the PTA, these will already be delivered to your child’s classroom. Immediately following, the Sunrise Valley PTA will host “Popsicles on the Playground,” a fun, informal time to gather and connect as a community.
Additionally, please save the date for our annual Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 2, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This event is an opportunity to get a preview of the year ahead led by your child’s teacher. You’ll hear about the curriculum, classroom expectations, and ways we can work together to support your child’s success. More details will be shared soon.
We know the start of the school year can come with a lot of information, and we want to make it easier for you to find what you need. To help streamline communication, we’ve created two key resources for you to review. Please take time to review both resources in full:
Important Beginning of Year (BOY) Information & Forms – This includes all the essential documents and details needed to start the year off smoothly, including required Emergency Care, Health Information, SR&R and Early Release Wednesday forms.
Sunrise Valley Family Handbook – A helpful reference guide that answers many of our most frequently asked questions and is updated regularly.
-
Smart Devices Policy: Please note that there have been changes regarding student access to smartphones and smartwatches. Information can be found in the Smart Devices Policy section of the Sunrise Valley Family Handbook.
-
Bus Transportation: New student ID cards will be provided to bus riders this fall. Please review the Bus Transportation section of the Sunrise Valley Family Handbook for additional information.
Most of our communication, including our weekly newsletters, will be shared through News You Choose.
As we head into this new school year, Ms. Delaney and I are here to support your family. If you need anything at all as the year begins, please never hesitate to reach out to our front office or to either of us directly.
Please know how grateful we are to be part of your child’s journey. We look forward to an amazing year ahead!
Warmly,
Ashley Younger, Principal + Jody Delaney, Assistant Principal
