Your Workday Needs More Movement

Can we talk about literal power moves for a minute? Between back-to-back meetings and overflowing inboxes, it’s surprisingly easy to look up and realize you haven’t left your desk in hours… which isn’t great. Science has shown that sedentary behavior, even while you’re locked in, can be harmful. 

Small, intentional breaks can get you out of your chair, give your eyes a break from the screen, and create a natural reset before you tackle whatever’s next. The key? Making movement part of your routine instead of another thing you have to find time for.

The power move is to find ways to move while you work. Here are a few easy ways to get started: 

1. Take your meetings on the move: Turn your next call into a walking meeting. Pop in your headphones and take a lap around the block—or even around the office. It’s habit stacking! 

2. Make your calendar do the remembering: You schedule meetings, deadlines, and appointments, so why not movement? Block 10 minutes between calls to stretch, refill your water, or walk around. 

3. Use your commute—whatever it looks like: If you work from home, create a “fake commute” with a short walk before and after work. If you head into an office, try getting off the train or bus one stop early, parking farther away, or walking part of the journey when possible.

The goal isn’t to optimize every second of your day or turn your step count into another KPI. It’s simply to remember that your body wasn't designed to spend eight hours in the same position.

Interest in sustainably made jeans has skyrocketed this year, making it one of fashion's fastest-growing long-term trends. Instead of chasing the latest wash or silhouette, more shoppers are paying attention to how their denim is made.

That means looking for jeans crafted with organic or recycled cotton, lower-impact dyes, and production methods that use less water. Many brands are also designing higher-quality pieces meant to last longer, encouraging shoppers to buy fewer pairs they'll wear for years instead of replacing them every season. (Buy it nice or buy it twice, as they say.)

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from rom-coms, it’s that weddings rarely go according to plan—and Do Us Part takes that idea and runs with it. Like its predecessors, the new wedding rom-com follows a carefully planned celebration getting turned upside down with a little unrequited love. Leading the chaos is Rose, a role written for and played by award-winning actress, dancer, and choreographer Kelly Russo. 

After making the rounds on the film festival circuit, earning major praise, Do Us Part is finally streaming this week, and we caught up with Kelly to talk about defending her character’s questionable choices, bringing a little edge back to the rom-com, and why she’s officially declaring that the genre is back. Plus, we found out which classics make her ultimate rom-com list.

This movie has already received a lot of attention and love at film festivals, but for anyone who doesn’t know, why will they love it? 

Oh, everyone's going to love this movie because it's nostalgic at some points. Everyone wants a rom-com, but no one wants the cheese ball factor. We want the warm fuzzies, but then we want a little edge. I feel like Do Us Part gives you all of that. I think it really just flips on its head, and you are just left like, “Wow, what did I just watch? I'm not quite sure, but I loved it!’

What was your first impression when you read the script?

The movie started out as a play 12 years ago. Reed Arnold, who is the director, writer, and co-star, wrote it with me and the other lead actor (Travis Laughlin) in mind. So I read it 12 years ago, and I was insulted because I was written [as] this harlot [who] comes in stealing the groom. I was just so insulted that Reed thought of all people that I could do that as an actor. But as I've grown with it, I'm like, “ow, what a witty, fun, enjoyable script,” and [it’s] fast-paced. You have to be pretty smart to be able to digest it and be able to spit it out quickly because he's just a quick wit. So it was very fun to work on.
