 Michael R. Frey Campus to Close Temporarily
Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026, Fairfax County Animal Services will temporarily close the Michael R. Frey Campus to complete an HVAC renovation that will take approximately six months. Our Lorton Campus will remain open to the public with normal operating hours.
To help preserve space for animals with the greatest need, we have expanded our foster capacity and the support we provide to the community through our Pet Resource Center.

Clear the Shelters is Almost Here!
Clear the Shelters is back and better than ever. Join us Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23 for Clear the Shelters. ALL pets will have their adoption fees waived. Plus, the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter is providing a $250 care credit to Pender Veterinary Centre for all senior dogs and cats during the event.
Last year, 180 shelter pets found their new homes during Clear the Shelters. Help make this year even better!

If you like the quiet moments in life, then Chelsea is the girl for you! Don’t let her small stature and cute face fool you. This spry girl is 12 years old! Chelsea prefers to get to know people on a deep, intimate level and shines brightest in a quiet, cozy space with few distractions. Once she feels comfortable, you’ll have the honor of seeing her playful and quirky side.
Chelsea is eligible for a 14-day Adoption Audition. Virginia residents can meet her and bring her home to see if it’s a match! Thanks to Friends of Fairfax County Animal Shelter, her adoption fee is waived, and she’ll also head home with a $500 credit at Pender Veterinary Clinic.
