As summer draws to a close, we’re excited for another season of opportunities to connect, learn from, and amplify the many voices that make up our AAPI community.
This month, I'll be joining our Mentorship Program alum and talented producer and storyteller Joy Lau on August 23 for Stories of Shared Resilience, a public program of weekly screenings of the 6-part documentary History of NYC’s Chinatown. Enjoy a screening of Episode 4: Corky Lee’s Photographic Revolution at the spectacular Riverside Church, followed by a panel discussion on cultural preservation & community building!
Just in time for back-to-school season, we’re also partnering with AtomicMind for The Road to Top Colleges: What Students Should Be Doing Each Year of High School on August 30. This free community webinar brings expert guidance, real student case studies, and a live Q&A to families, helping make the U.S. college admissions process more accessible, transparent, and easier to navigate.
This fall, we’re also excited to bring back two flagship Serica events, exploring questions at the forefront of community and culture:
September 24: Voices Rising: Korean Diaspora Voices in Performance convenes the company members from the Korean reimagining of the iconic Chekhov play, The Cherry Orchard (tickets to the show here, 9/16 - 9/26!) and others to reflect on how Korean diasporic artists have shaped the evolution of Asian American theater and performance.
Save the Date! The AAPI Trailblazers Conference returns on November 4 with the theme “Owning Our Stories in the Age of AI.” What does it mean to tell our stories in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence? Explore more at our upcoming conference — more details coming soon!
