Plans for a $31.9 billion data centre project have been unveiled for the site of a feedlot outside Dalby.

As Bella Munro reports, the proposed development comes amid national conversations around water and energy consumption with the federal government set to lay out new rules for how data centres use energy this week, with Queensland opposing the suggested laws.

Dan McCray and Michael Beh recently visited the University of Southern Queensland where they set up a listening booth as part of the ABC's Your Say campaign. They heard from students about cost-of-living increases, housing shortages, and issues with social cohesion.

Meanwhile, in Warwick, Grace Nakamura and Dan McCray sat across the rape trial of competitive bull rider Clay Benjamin Hall. It ended with the jury being discharged after failing to reach a verdict on one of two charges in relation to an incident in Warwick in 2021. The case has been adjourned to next month.

Finally, David Iliffe explained why truckies might have some helping hands if they break down in Thallon this weekend. That's because the latest annual instalment of the Thallon Truck Pull will be held in the town on Saturday.

The place will be crawling with strong men and women who will be pulling trucks to raise money for the local state school's parents and citizens' association.
