A Message from the PTA President
Dear Hunt Valley Families,
With our first meeting in the rear-view mirror, Hunt Valley PTA is officially up and running! Our first, free community event is this weekend, the Fun Run & Wellness Fair. Families are welcome to run alongside their students in a guided loop around the school but certainly not required. We will have a DJ, health and wellness vendors in the gym and the 6th grade class will be holding a baked goods and coffee donation drive. PTA is supporting the local non-profit, ECHO, by asking that runners and families bring a canned good for donation on Saturday morning. Not available to attend this weekend? You can still support ECHO by dropping your donation off this week into the PTA donation bin at the school’s front door.

Next week brings Book Fair! (New this year, PTA will only be hosting one book fair.) Although cash will again be accepted, we highly encourage students to use their e-wallet for a speedier checkout and safer transportation of funds. The online sign up for parents to help at the Book Fair is out and we’ve provided the time slots of each classroom, if you’d like to volunteer while your student is at the Fair. We welcome volunteers in any time frame, whether during your Hawk’s book fair slot or not.

Next week also brings our first Spirit Night of the year! Spirit Nights are fundraisers for our PTA at local restaurants. We typically partner with one local restaurant a month. Tuesday, September 15th, from 5-7 PM you can dine in or out at the Springfield Chick-fil-A (6681A Backlick Rd). Chick-fil-A will donate 20% of receipts to the PTA! Tell the team member before ordering that you’re with Hunt Valley Spirit Night or use the code Hawks (capital H) when ordering in app.
As always, feel free to reach out to me with questions or comments at president@huntvalleypta.org.
Sincerely,
Kacie Jones
Hunt Valley PTA President
Fun Run & Wellness Fair
This Saturday! We will be joined by martial arts programs, swim schools, gyms, medical professionals, and more!
Please RSVP if you plan to attend, so our vendors can come prepared for the fun!
Reflections Art Contest
Now is the time for your Hawk to begin their entries for the Reflections art contest. Click here for Info about the contest and links to category guidelines. The Hunt Valley contest entry window will open in the second half of September and run through the month of October.
Questions about Hunt Valley’s contest can be directed to reflections@huntvalleypta.org.
Our Reflections Coordinator, Silke Douglass, is looking for other parents and guardians who are passionate about the arts to join her on the Reflections Committee. Please email with questions or to express interest!
After School Activities
Don’t miss out on registering your student for an after school activity this fall! The deadline is tomorrow, Friday, September 4th. Your child could participate in a class for free! Volunteering for an after school program grants you a scholarship spot in a fall activity and the chance to see for yourself the cool things your Hawk is learning! We are seeking volunteers for RunFitKidz, Tuesday’s Cooking class, Overtime Athletics and Chess. Email afterschoolactivities@huntvalleypta.org with interest.

Book Fair September 14-18
*Please remember to load your Hawk’s e-wallet and send them on their buying day (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) with a printed copy.
*A loaded e-wallet is the total allowed to be spent by your student, not the amount your card will be charged. Example: An e-wallet is loaded with $20. Student purchases $18.99 in books. Credit card is charged $18.99.
*There will be small non-book items for sale (erasers, pens, bookmarks, diaries, small toys, etc). Please have a discussion with your Hawk about what things they are allowed to purchase. Volunteers will ring up the items the student brings to check out.
*Monday & Tuesday preview days allow students to look over the book fair choices and make a take-home-wishlist with prices. Please use this resource to start the conversation about what they will purchase on buying day.
*We are looking for parent volunteers to help staff the book fair. Each shift will be run by an experienced Book Fair Captain who can answer any questions you may have. Click here for the sign up link!
*Book Fair Family Buying time is on Thursday, September 17 from 4:30pm-6:00pm, if you’d like to shop with your student. Enter from door 8 (on the parking lot side of the building, near the SACC entrance).
*We kindly ask, no returns, please. All sales are final.
Help your student’s class win a Party!
Help your Hawk’s class win a lunch party! The classroom with the highest percentage of parent/guardian PTA membership sign ups by Friday, October 16th will win a classroom party. The tally has begun to see which classroom will be victorious. Will it be Ms. Sheikh’s class again this year? Any classroom could win! Teacher’s PTA memberships count in the tally, too! Click here to renew your membership or join for the first time. (If you joined before teacher assignments went out, don’t worry. We will reach out by email or check with staff to make sure your Hawk’s classroom gets credit for your membership.)
Coding Club & Overtime Athletics Registration extended through Sunday!
You’ve got a little more time to join these two fun programs! Registrations will close on Sunday, September 13th.
