~> Advocacy Alert <~
Crossing guards were defunded at many high schools (including Edison) across Fairfax County for the 2026-2027 school year. This has resulted in serious student safety issues, including one student being involved in a recent accident.
While this does not directly impact our Bush Hill students, it does impact our community and neighbors.
Here's how you can weigh in to prioritize crossing-guard funding: You can send written comments to ClerktotheBOS@fairfaxcounty.gov. You can also testify in person, by phone, by prerecorded video, or in writing here for the Board of Supervisors' Carryover Review.
The review will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 10:30am at the Fairfax County Government Center at 12000 Government Center Parkway.
After-school Enrichment Programs
In case you missed the news last week...we're excited to share that the PTA is offering a variety of after-school enrichment programs this fall for grades K to 6. We have lots of options happening over the whole week—don’t miss out on the fun and learning from 4:15 to 5 pm!
Monday: Sports Spectacular (K-6) and Pokemon Engineering using LEGO® Materials (K-3)
Tuesday: Silver Knights Chess Club (K-6), Garden Club (K-6), and Jimmy Potters Pottery (K-6)
Wednesday: STEM Excel Robotics (1-6)
Thursday: iSTEAM Time Travelers (K-5)
Friday: Kids in Motion: Hip Hop Dance (K-6)
Odyssey of the Mind
Got big ideas? Join Odyssey of the Mind!
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is a creative team challenge where students turn an open-ended problem into an original performance, using teamwork, imagination, engineering, art, and plenty of ingenuity. No experience is required. Just bring your ideas! OM is open to all grades, K-6. Teams will begin meeting in late October or early November and work toward a regional tournament in late February 2027. Be sure to sign up by Oct. 2, 2026.
Help us do even more this year!
Just $10 for parents, guardians, family, and community members and $5 for teachers to join. More members means stronger advocacy, more field trips and events, and better support for our school!
