Proofpoint and Volexity say they have observed hackers deploying the BlueMoon exploit kit to leverage zero-day vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows and Google Chrome. The kit combines issues in Chromium-based browsers for remote code execution and a Windows kernel privilege escalation. BlueMoon has been used in spearphishing by groups such as JungleBamboo and UTA0560, targeting NGOs and high-value individuals.
