The Cardinal Connection: CPES News Delivered to You

Students reading

Each morning our students begin the day by reading a book.

Dear Cardinal Families,

We are excited to share that we have brought back Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Time as part of our morning routine. Once students unpack and settle in, they choose a book and read quietly until class begins.

DEAR Time provides a peaceful start to the day and gives students additional opportunities to build reading stamina, strengthen their skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading. Those minutes will add up quickly!

How can you add a few minutes of reading to your family’s daily routine? Consider reading together before bed, during breakfast, after school, or while waiting for appointments. Even a few minutes each day can help build reading skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of books.

Warmly,

Allison Hoak, Principal

Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal
