Safe Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Thank you to all of our families for helping make the transition back to school smooth and successful! Please keep these important reminders in mind to help arrival and dismissal run safely and efficiently.

Door 3 Kiss & Ride

• Bus and Walking Options: Riding the bus or walking remains the fastest way to avoid the car line entirely.
• Please do not turn left into Oak View from Sideburn. Oak View staff are not permitted to direct traffic on Sideburn. Instead, please join the line of other families dropping off by turning right into the school parking lot.
• Right-Hand Turns Only: Enter and exit through right-hand turns only to help keep traffic flowing safely.
• Passenger-Side Exit: Students must exit from the passenger side of the vehicle. Adults should remain inside their vehicles.
• Be Ready and Close Gaps: Please have students’ backpacks ready before stopping, and pull forward close to the vehicle ahead.
• Late Arrival After 8:30 a.m.: Please park and sign your child in at the main office.

Review and Sign the SR&R by September 30

The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3 and 4-6.

We ask that families please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.

Oak View Elementary Celebrates Blue Star Welcome Week

Oak View Elementary is celebrating Blue Star Welcome Week from September 26 to October 4 to ensure our military families feel welcomed and supported in our school community. Join us for the Blue Star Breakfast!

• When: Wednesday, September 30 | 7:50 a.m. – 8:20 a.m.
• Where: Oak View Elementary Cafeteria
• What: Light breakfast refreshments, helpful information, and a chance for us to honor your service.

Please RSVP by filling out the Blue Star Breakfast Form if you plan to attend. Can't make breakfast? Consider joining your child for lunch in the cafeteria anytime during the week!

Join us for a series of Community Conversations that will be held across the school division. Share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Click on the date to register for any of the following events:

• Thursday, October 29, at 6:30 p.m., at North Springfield Elementary School
• Friday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m., at Powell Elementary School

Registration is not required, but it helps with planning.
