Principals' Message
Hello White Oaks Community,
It has been a wonderful week across White Oaks as we continue building momentum for a strong school year! Our classrooms were buzzing with energy and focus as students completed their beginning-of-the-year assessments, giving us valuable insight into their unique strengths and learning goals.
On Thursday, we hosted our first PTA meeting of the year. The board shared a budget, vision, and lineup of activities for our students. For these plans to succeed, the PTA truly relies on community support. Please consider joining and volunteering, our close collaboration is what makes White Oaks such an incredible place for our students!
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome you to our Back to School Nights next week:
Both nights follow the same schedule:
-
6:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Welcome & Administrative Overview (Cafeteria)
-
6:35 PM – 7:05 PM: Classroom Session 1
-
7:10 PM – 7:40 PM: Classroom Session 2 (Identical repeat of Session 1 to help families with multiple children visit every classroom)
Our Specialist team (Art, Music, PE, etc.) will also be available in the cafeteria throughout both evenings to share details about their programs. We can't wait to connect with you!
Have a great weekend!
Melanie, Neena, & Josh

Healthy Meals and School Policy
White Oaks is dedicated to student health and safety, which includes promoting nutritious eating through our curriculum and cafeteria selections. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these healthy habits at school.
General Meal Guidelines:
- We strongly encourage families to send healthy, nutritious lunches and snacks.
- We ask that you do not send fast food, carbonated soft drinks, or beverages in glass bottles.
Policy and Safety Reasons: Our guidelines are in place for several important reasons:
-
Health Promotion: To reinforce the importance of nutritional eating.
-
Food Allergies: To reduce the risk of allergic reactions from cross-contamination (particularly with outside fast food).
-
Equity: To prevent peer pressure associated with items that are not accessible to all families.
Guidelines for Lunch Visitors
We welcome you to join your child for lunch! To support our health and safety policies:
- Visitors typically purchase a school lunch or bring a healthy bag lunch from home.
- Please do not bring fast food or soft drinks when visiting.
Important: Soft drinks are prohibited for sale to students across all FCPS schools (K-12) during the school day.
