Dear Clearview Families,
Would you like to recognize Clearview employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care about their students, colleagues, and the community? We invite you to submit a story below to acknowledge the great work of a Clearview employee or group of employees who should receive FCPS CARES recognition.

After School Clubs
Over the next two weeks, students will be assigned to After School Clubs. Please check Talking Points for updates beginning next week.
All after school club communication will be delivered via the Talking Points app. If you have not downloaded the app, please do so today and enable push notifications to ensure you don’t miss any time-sensitive messages:
- Open your phone's Settings menu.
- Find and select TalkingPoints for Families.
- Tap Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications.

AVID Day: September 18
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college and career readiness system designed to prepare students for success. AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. We are focused on developing independence in our students K-6 in organization, note-taking, and goal setting.
September 18 is AVID Day!. On September 18, please encourage your child to wear a shirt or something that represents a college or career in your family. You might also ask them to share a “celebration” or “callback” that they use in the classroom. Waterfall is particularly popular.
Reporting Discrimination or Harassment
FCPS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, national origins, and ethnicities. Individuals experiencing harassment or discrimination should report the incident as soon as possible.
Your Child’s Presence at School Matters
The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success by helping them build good habits.

Rosh Hashanah

Shanah tovah to our Jewish community celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Meaning “head of the year,” Rosh Hashanah is one of Judaism’s holiest days and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection that ends with Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday, September 11. That day is an evening-only observance day. |

September 18th is our back to school picnic! Meet on the Clearview blacktop from 5:30-7:30pm. Bring an outdoor activity to share (balls, jump rope, bubbles, etc!).

Silver Knights Chess Academy is back this fall with Chess Club on Friday mornings for students in grades 2-6! Sign up today to continue the progression, sharpen their strategy and enjoy the game with fellow chess players. Chess Club is a mixture of lessons, activities, and games. We welcome all skill levels.
