Fall Weekly Recaps
Golf had their weekly match Thursday afternoon vs Hayfield & TJ at Pinecrest. The match may not have been the result the Atoms wanted as they fell to Hayfield and TJ but they showed a lot of grit and growth on the course as their result was only seven strokes behind district power TJ. The Atoms tee it up Thursday vs Edison.
Girls Volleyball battled to a thrilling five-set victory over Justice on Tuesday. After taking an early 2-0 lead, the Atoms fought through a determined Justice comeback before securing the match in the deciding set. The Atoms composed themselves in the fifth set to run away with a deciding 15-4 set win. The Atoms moved their district record to 3-0. The Atoms host Falls Church Monday evening.
Boys Volleyball traveled to Justice Tuesday evening to take on the Wolves. The Atoms battled but were unable to secure a set win as they fell 3-0 as their district record goes to 1-2. The Atoms jump on the bus for a short trip to Falls Church Monday.
Field Hockey welcomed West Springfield to campus Tuesday evening. It was a tight game throughout but the Spartans were able to score an early goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Atoms had their chances but couldn't capitalize as the Spartans added a second one to secure the 2-0 win. The Atoms travel to Lewis for a district game Monday at 6:00pm.
Football played host to Meridian Thursday evening at J. Wallace Bolding Stadium. The Atoms came out sluggish as they trailed early 6-0 after the first quarter vs Mustangs. The Mustangs turned it up in the second quarter to take a 23-0 lead into the half. The Atoms defense held their own in the second half but the offense couldn't get enough going to close the gap. The Atoms travel to district rival Falls Church Friday evening.
Boys and Girls Cross Country had the week off from competition but return to the paths Wednesday at Mason District
