A Cape Cod police officer was arrested after crashing an SUV into a parked car while allegedly under the influence Friday night. The Sandwich, Massachusetts, police officer, Matthew Cotter, is on administrative leave following the crash, his department said. The crash took place on Grand Oak Road in the village of Forestdale about 9:30 p.m., Sandwich police said. A woman called police to report a vehicle driving through her bushes and into her car. |

| Halifax road rage suspect with pellet gun detained in Kingston, police say |

A person was detained at gunpoint in Kingston, Massachusetts, after what police described as a road rage incident in nearby Halifax Friday. The person was argumentative and resisted commands after being stopped near a restaurant on Main Street near Route 3, Kingston police said. But he was detained without incident, and in possession of what they described as a realist-looking pellet gun. The road rage incident involving an apparent gun was reported about 5 p.m. Friday in Halifax, and the vehicle suspected to be involved was spotted in Kingston, police said. |

New England has some great college towns, and one that’s often overlooked is Keene, a small city tucked away in the scenic Monadnock region in the southwest corner of New Hampshire. Keene is one of the most charming and picturesque communities in all of New Hampshire, with a very walkable downtown area, lots of green space, historic homes and buildings and hills and mountains in nearly every direction. And its city center is home to a number of restaurants, bars and cafes that cater to locals as well as students at Keene State College and the much smaller Antioch University New England. One of the more popular places in downtown Keene had been an award-winning brewery called Modestman Brewing in the heart of the city center, but it closed last summer. (Its plan was to move to Maine, but as of this writing it has not reopened). |

Ranger Suarez struck out eight in seven innings of one-run ball, Wilyer Abreu hit a tiebreaking two-run double and the Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 on Saturday to halt a three-game skid. Nick Sogard had an RBI double, and Adley Rutschman and Caleb Durbin each added a run-scoring single for the Red Sox, who are comfortably in the second of the AL’s three wild-card spots. Carter Jensen hit his 24th homer for Kansas City, which won the series opener Friday night. |
