You may use AI throughout your individual workday, then leave it behind when you enter a team meeting. That’s a missed opportunity. AI can improve the work that happens before, during, and after a discussion. The key is to give it a deliberate role at each stage.
Before the meeting. Use AI to make preparation more active. Instead of simply reviewing pre-reads, ask it to question your thinking or pressure-test your recommendations. You’ll come in with clearer ideas that are ready for discussion.
During the discussion. Bring AI into the conversation with a specific role. It might challenge an assumption, offer a different perspective, or help the group make sense of competing ideas. Choose the role based on what the discussion needs.
After the meeting. Use AI to facilitate a retrospective. Have it surface patterns in what worked and what got in the way, then capture the lessons your team wants to carry forward.
Make it a practice. Plan how you’ll use AI before the meeting starts. When an approach works, build it into your team’s regular routines.
