Library of Congress to Award Kluge Prize for Achievement in the Study of Humanity to Philosopher Martha C. Nussbaum

The Library of Congress announced today that philosopher Martha C. Nussbaum will receive the 2026 John W. Kluge Prize for Achievement in the Study of Humanity.

Nussbaum is the Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago, where she is appointed in both the law school and philosophy department. Nussbaum holds associate appointments in the classics department, the divinity school and the political science department.
