On Sept. 30, officials from Fairfax City and Fairfax County marked the start of construction on the new Willard-Sherwood Health and Community Center with a groundbreaking ceremony. The joint project includes construction of a new LEED Gold-certified, 100,000-square-foot facility with all-electric building systems and equipment.
The new facility will include a public health center, childcare services, gymnasium, indoor track, fitness center, senior center, and multiuse classrooms. The center is being built on the site of the former Joseph Willard Health Center at 3750 Blenheim Blvd, Fairfax.
Slow Down for the Blenheim Boulevard Work Zone
If you’re traveling on Blenheim Boulevard, please give yourself a little extra time and use extra care through the work zone. New 25-mph speed limit signs were posted along Blenheim Boulevard on Aug. 14.
The lower speed is intended to help keep everyone in the work zone safe. Drivers should expect changing traffic patterns, workers near the roadway, and conditions that may look different from one day to the next. When the project is complete, Blenheim Boulevard will return to the previous 30-mph speed limit.

Please Use Our Free Nut Collection Bags

Our acorn and nut collection drive ends in less than 10 days! As you're preparing your donations, please use the free bags available at our Acorn Station near the composting center.
Donated nuts not placed in breathable bags result in a very wet and soggy situation, making it harder to keep other bags in the bin dry and mold-free. We appreciate your donations, but we need your help to keep the bins organized.
Thank you for helping us collect seed donations for the Virginia Department of Forestry. We have collected more than 300 lbs already! Learn how to donate your acorns, walnuts, and chestnuts on our website.
