BMW to expand EV lineup with iX4, entry-level model

BMW is expected to unveil an all-electric iX4 this year and introduce an electric compact car in 2028 based on the Neue Klasse platform. Small plug-in solar systems are getting a boost, giving renters and others without suitable roofs a way to generate electricity from balconies, patios or backyards under California's Plug and Play Solar Act. New rules also aim to put home batteries, electric vehicles, smart thermostats and other connected energy devices to work as virtual power plants, while utilities will have to assess whether batteries and flexible electricity use can reduce the need for traditional grid upgrades.
