Guess what. You're about to spend the next two months optimizing the hell out of getting people to buy. (If you didn't notice, it is Q4 and we know what that means.) I bet you're already debating offers, thinking about hero copy and images in your library, and wondering if your Black Friday campaign will multiply like someone got water on it in that weird Gremlins movie from the 1980s.
But have you recently looked at what happens after someone actually buys? They're potentially the most-read email in Q4 because people actually want to open them. Did my order go through? Did I use the right address? What did I actually buy at 2am? And, increasingly over the next few months, will I get it before Christmas?
But the confirmation is only the beginning. There's the shipping and delivery updates, the how-to or care instructions, the review request, the replenishment reminder, and eventually the attempt to get you to buy something else.
So before Q4 really gets moving, buy something from yourself and see what happens next. Jump into your journey map and click all the links. See whether the experience you spent months convincing someone to start is actually any good once they do.
