h

Thank you, PTO, for a fabulous movie night. The weather was perfect for family bonding under the stars.

Outdoor Dining

Beginning Tuesday, parents and guardians are invited to enjoy outdoor lunch with their child. Outdoor lunch will run from Tuesday-Thursday until December 18 (weather permitting). Please use this link to sign up for a time slot.

We are asking that you not sign up for more than twice a month so that others have an opportunity to enjoy lunch with their child.

Procedures:

  • Please sign up for a time using the link above.
  • Check in to the office. You MUST have a driver’s license or Passport.
  • After you have checked in, please wait for your child at Door 5.
  • Enjoy lunch with your child and use the wipe provided to clean your outdoor space. Please dispose of all trash.
  • Walk your child back to the building, entering through Door 5. Please ring the bell. Your child will join their class in the cafeteria.
  • Please proceed to the office to sign out.

We are asking that you follow these procedures; please do not follow your child to recess, as this is their time to interact with their peers.

Get Ready for the First Early Release Wednesday

Silverbrook will have a three-hour early release on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Dismissal will begin at approximately 12:35. Lunch will be provided on a modified schedule. It's a great day to schedule doctor and dentist appointments!

Do You Need Silverbrook Staff to Provide Childcare for Your Student?

Please let us know either way! Parents and caregivers may use the Online Verification/Update (OVU) packet in SIS ParentVUE to confirm whether or not childcare will be needed on the four early release Wednesdays. Once you have signed into ParentVUE, you can follow these instructions. The deadline for a response is midnight, Oct. 18.

Volunteer With Us!

Now is the time to become an approved FCPS volunteer so you can volunteer as a chaperone, support classrooms and special events, assist in the cafeteria, and more! All volunteers must register with FCPS, complete the volunteer orientation, and sign in using the visitor kiosk. Some volunteer opportunities may also require a background check.

Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey

As part of the Fairfax County School Board’s Annual School-Based Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Assessment, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are inviting parents and caregivers to share their experiences traveling to and from school.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss and ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.

Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.

Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.

Superintendent Community Conversations

Join the FCPS Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid, for a series of Community Conversations that will be held across the school division. Share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Click on the date to register for any of the following events:

Registration is not required, but it helps with planning.

  • Lunch items such as crunchy beef or fiesta tacos, ramen bowl with diced chicken or hard-boiled egg, beef or vegan banh mi burger, and southwest fiesta soup with corn chips.

The Importance of the Flu Vaccine

Staying up to date with your child's flu vaccination helps:

  • Reduce School Absences: Keeping students healthy means more time spent learning and engaging with peers.
  • Protect the Community: Vaccination helps shield vulnerable family members and neighbors from seasonal illness.
  • Support Overall Wellness: Routine flu shots are a key component of a proactive student health plan.

Upcoming Flu Shot Events

FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide flu shots for all FCPS students, ages 18 and under, at no out-of-pocket cost. Multiple events will take place at designated FCPS locations. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year. Parents or guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary.
