Hey Bob, Korean has a bit of a reputation. You look at it on the page... little circles and boxes everywhere... and it's hard to imagine ever understanding a word of it. And look, some of that's fair. Korean IS hard. But after 25 years of learning and teaching languages, I can tell you this... No other language lets you in the front door faster. The tricky bit is knowing what's on the other side of that door. How far can you actually get? And how long does it take? The official levels aren't much help there. They certainly won't tell you whether you could survive a Wednesday in Seoul! So I've mapped out the seven REAL levels of Korean, based on what you can actually do at each one. Now, Korean starts off a lot friendlier than it looks. But somewhere in the middle, it does something rather sneaky that catches almost everyone out. (If you've been learning a while, you probably know exactly what I mean. Sorry.) And the very top level? You can find out what it takes to reach that here Chat soon, Olly |
