SCHS ATTENDANCE INFORMATION 2026-27
-
2-Hour Advance Notice Required: All early dismissal requests must be submitted at least two hours in advance. We will no longer process last-minute phone calls or messages for immediate pickup. Please plan appointments accordingly, as requests failing to meet this lead time will not be honored.
-
Illness & Clinic Protocol: If a student feels ill, they MUST report to the School Clinic. Students will only be dismissed for medical reasons after being evaluated by the clinic staff and checked out from that location.
-
Official Office Check-Out: All students leaving early must physically check out through the Main Office. Any student who leaves campus without following this procedure will be marked with an unexcused absence.
-
Attendance Corrections: If a student is marked UNV for a specific period due to lateness or a clerical error, the student must speak with that teacher directly. The teacher will then update the attendance or notify the attendance team. The Attendance Offices will not alter period-specific attendance without teacher verification.
These procedures are in place to ensure student safety and a focused learning environment. We thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain an accurate and secure campus.
Report a Full-Day Absence-The fastest way is to use ParentVUE.

Message from Dr. Khoshaba
Greetings, SoCo family,
October is off to a gourd start, and we’re excited for all the ways our Stallions will learn, connect, and shine this month. As the leaves turn and the season changes, we’re looking forward to the moments and milestones ahead. Here’s to a month filled with school spirit and opportunities to grow! Now, let’s reflect on this past week …
Sense of Belonging
Caring for Each Other
I want to congratulate the following students for their work with the Suicide Prevention/Awareness program: Callen Matoush, Ryker Russo, Dylan Miller, Graham Russell , Mark Edwards, Sarika Malhotra, and Luel Anteneh. These students worked hard to solicit positive statements from other students at SoCo. The goal of this project is to provide positive message and awareness to students who need encouragement. I couldn’t be any prouder of these exceptional student leaders!
School Culture
Stallions Rise to the Challenge!
I am incredibly proud of how our students have responded to Virginia’s bell-to-bell cell phone policy. The vast majority are meeting the expectation and keeping their phones and personal devices put away throughout the school day. Thank you for helping us build a focused learning environment. (note: the grade level is noted inside each horseshoe).
I’m also proud of our students’ commitment to regular attendance. We’ve already reached our October goal: at least 95% of students in each grade level are regularly attending school. Being here each day helps students stay connected, keep learning, and make the most of every opportunity. This accomplishment also supports our attendance motto: Now that you’re here, we’re more complete!
Education Partners in the Spotlight
I’d like to thank two of our partners in education, Yafa Grille and Sweet Frog, for their support of our Pink Out fundraiser to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research. While visiting, just mention that you are there to support SoCo, and Yafa and Sweet Frog will donate 15% of the proceeds.
In addition to those events, everyone is encouraged to join us on October 8 for a special Pink Out volleyball game. Freshmen and JV games begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by Varsity at 6:30 p.m. Wear pink, cheer on our Stallions, and help make a difference!
Your Voice Matters: Trusted Adult Survey
Students will have the opportunity to complete the Trusted Adult survey next Monday and Friday. The survey helps us understand students’ connections with trusted adults in our school community. Thank you for encouraging students to take part and share their perspectives.
Coach’s Corner
Six-week progress reports for courses will be sent to families next week. Think of the report as a compass for a supportive check-in: ask your student what feels strong and where they may need extra help. Please remind them to use the support available to them, including advisory study time, the science lab, and after-school help from teachers.
StateFarm Club Spotlight: Muslim Student Association
The Muslim Student Association (MSA) supports the Muslim community on campus and offers students a welcoming place to practice their faith, build community, and maintain their religious identity while navigating academic life. The club organizes daily prayers, monthly meetings, Ramadan activities, and social events. Through faith, friendship, and fellowship, MSA members can connect and support one another.
As we head into October, let’s keep showing up for one another and making SoCo a place where every Stallion belongs.
