Fall Fun at 55+ Centers

55+ Pumpkin Decoration

Friday, October 16, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Lubber Run

Get into the fall spirit and help bring some seasonal cheer to the community! Participants will decorate a pumpkin using a variety of festive supplies. Decorated pumpkins will be displayed as part of the Arlington County DPR Pumpkin Walk, giving participants the opportunity to showcase their creativity and contribute to a community-wide fall tradition. No experience is necessary, and all supplies are included. Join us for a fun afternoon of creativity, socializing and autumn celebration! Register: #911899-09


Spooky Stories

Friday, October 30, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Aurora Hills

Bring your favorite family friendly spooky story to share and join us for some Halloween fun! This event is open to all ages: no 55+ Pass is required. Register: #911301-20


Celebrate National Black Poetry Day

Saturday, October 10, 1-2 p.m. at Walter Reed

Learn the history of National Black Poetry Day and find out how Black poetry resonates in
Arlington County. This year's program will focus on hip hop and spoken word. Open to all ages: no 55+ Pass is required. Register: #911300-12


Brains and Brawn

Friday, October 16, 1-2 p.m. at Lubber Run

Challenge your mind and body in this fun, interactive wellness program with 55+ staff! Participants walk on the track and answer a trivia question after each lap. Get it right and head straight into your next lap; miss it and complete a short bonus exercise before continuing. All fitness levels welcome, with modifications available. Register: #911106-25

Play Pickleball!

  • Beginner Pickleball Friendly Fundraiser: Monday, October 19, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Walter Reed. Get to know your fellow Pickleballers by being partnered at random for doubles play. Pay the $15 admission fee by visiting the Alliance website before the event or pay the fee in person - collection dates will be communicated by email. Register: #911201-03
  • Pickleball: Battle of the Ages: Wednesday, October 21, 4:30-6 p.m. at Arlington Mill. Join us for a fun-filled pickleball tournament where teens and adults 55+ come together for friendly competition! All skill levels are welcome. Some equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Register: #911201-02

Arlington's Project PEACE

Arlington’s Project PEACE (Partnering to End Abuse in the Community for Everyone) is dedicated to preventing and addressing domestic, dating and sexual violence. In this program led by Project PEACE Program Coordinator LaToya Young, participants will engage in conversations that promote respect, inclusion and community connection and learn about the goals and impact of Project PEACE.

Meet one-on-one with an expert instructor to get your technology questions answered in a friendly, welcoming environment. Bring your device and get assistance with apps, removing computer viruses or malware, storing pictures and files, and any other questions you have. Please sign up in advance for a 30 minute appointment.

Digital Literacy in Today's World

Friday, October 9, 1-2 p.m. at Arlington Mill

Technology increasingly shapes how we communicate, find information, manage daily tasks and protect our privacy. Join Dr. Barbara Fillip with Knowledge Explorer, Fillip Consulting, LLC, to explore key areas of digital literacy and build a framework for navigating a rapidly changing digital world. Digital Discovery Fair, Saturday, October 10, 1-4PM at Central Library.

At the County's first Digital Discovery Fair, residents of all ages and skill levels can explore emerging technology, build digital skills, connect with local resources and receive personalized tech support, all in one place and all for free! Snacks available while supplies last!

  • Learn: Attend presentations and hands-on workshops
  • Play: See tech in action and try out tools
  • Connect: Chat with local organizations offering digital skills training and affordable access to the internet and devices and donate your old tech
  • Get Help: Get friendly one-on-one support; BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and bring your questions! Available in multiple languages.
