The Flydubai attacker planned to crash flight FZ1073 into Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport or a tower block in the Israeli city, US and Israeli reports suggest. The Omani national was a "lone wolf" extremist, according to the reports. Australian media said counter-terror officials were investigating whether the man was radicalised in the country, where he studied between 2015-2017. The United Arab Emirates' attorney general said the man attempted to carry out a "terrorist act". He attacked and wounded the captain with the emergency crash axe kept in the cockpit before being overpowered by passengers. Questions are now being asked about major security lapses, including how the man was recruited by the airline as a co-pilot.
