BATTING LEADOFF

The Red Sox fired Alex Cora on April 25. He could have managed the Phillies two days later had he wanted to, but Cora declined an offer from president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski and decided to spend the rest of the season with his family.

That’s not something he plans to change any time soon.

Cora turned down the Phillies again after they were eliminated from the postseason. According to friends, Cora loves his life in Puerto Rico and will give it more time before he returns to baseball.
