A Lion's Tale

M Counts

Greetings Laurel Ridge Families,

Last week’s crisp weather has us feeling all the fall vibes and excitement for upcoming seasonal fun!  We hope you were able to join us on Sunday for the PTA’s Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat event -  it was a blast!  Tuesday brings the kickoff for PTA’s annual Boosterthon fundraiser.  We appreciate the incredible support of this community for making this event a success!  Don’t forget that Wednesday, Oct. 23rd is Fall Picture Day for all grades.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the neighborhood on Friday, Oct. 25th for Robinson’s Homecoming Parade.

Reminder:  The next Early Release Monday will be October 28th.  It is important that we have a dismissal plan for EVERY student.  If you haven’t already, please take a moment to complete this form today!  We will be sending confirmation emails next week to ensure all students have a safe dismissal plan.

Have a wonderful weekend!

DEAR

Drop Everything and Reflect

Each year Laurel Ridge students and staff grow and hone their portrait of a graduate skills. Portrait of a graduate skills, like being a critical and creative thinker, are central to students' success in their classrooms, community, and future. On Friday 10/18, Laurel Ridge welcomed Jeff Lonnett from Fairfax County Instructional Services to lead the school in our first Drop Everything And Reflect (DEAR) event of the year. DEAR is a quarterly event specifically focused on student reflection on their critical and creative thinking skills. Staff and students engaged in reflective activities in their classrooms while Mr. Lonnett led the session live from the WLRS studio. Students and staff did a spectacular job reviewing artifacts and experiences that showcased their critical and creative thinking skills. We look forward to the next DEAR event on January 18th, 2025! A special thank you also goes out to our 4th grade co-host! His energy, thoughtfulness, and courage to reflect live on camera made him a great exemplar for all students!

School Picture Day is Wednesday 10/23!
