Dear MoJo Reader,
Throughout their campaign, when Donald Trump and JD Vance weren’t using sexist and racist language to demean Kamala Harris, they were broadly insulting women (see: “childless cat ladies”) and threatening to restrict our freedom to control our bodies.
Now that we know women in swing states voted at lower levels for Harris than they did for Joe Biden in 2020 or Hillary Clinton in 2016, there is a lot to explore about how that happened and what it means for women—and women in journalism—in a second Trump administration.
I hope you’ll join us for a discussion with Mother Jones Editor-in-Chief Clara Jeffery and Editorial Director Jamilah King. I’ll be moderating the virtual event on Monday, November 25, at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
To join, you’ll need to RSVP here. You’ll later receive an email from Zoom with the link.
Mother Jones’ newsroom has been led by women for a majority of its nearly 50 years, and we’ve always reported on women’s rights in the arenas of education, criminal justice, health care, and more. We’re ready for the challenge of Trump 2.0 and an administration determined to squash press freedoms and restrict women’s access to reproductive care.
Our conversation will last 60 minutes, and you’ll be welcome to share your questions with us. Please join us, and share this invite with friends or family who you think would be interested.
No matter what’s ahead in the coming months, independent investigative reporting is going to have a crucial role to play. No one owns Mother Jones, and no one ever will. We’re accountable only to you, our readers, and everything we do is made possible through your support. I hope you can join us!
