No images? Click here Dear Reader, Everyone’s got a lot going on right now, so I’ll keep this short. It’s our year-end campaign, a critical time for our nonprofit newsroom. And I’d like to invite you, our readers, to consider supporting us − and the cause of a better-informed world − today. Let me tell you a little bit about what I do here. I’m the project manager for our investigative and accountability desk. And I‘ve spent the past year helping The Conversation produce journalism based on academic research on issues that can have a huge impact on your life. A few examples:
As part of the relentless investigative unit at The Conversation, I’m thrilled to partner with academics so that we can explain their data-driven and often shocking insights to the general public. And as a taxpayer, as someone who counts several schoolkids and nursing home residents as dear to my heart, and as someone who will weigh options for Medicare coverage when the time comes, I’m grateful to the academics I work with for researching topics that are a critical part of our daily lives, and that few organizations study or investigate. Please join with us today so we can do more! Our board will match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $75,000. All this work is high-impact. Once we publish our investigative and deeply researched pieces, they are republished by news organizations across the country, and the researchers are usually interviewed by other media and are also often invited to testify in front of policymakers. Perhaps the most important impact: Our readers are better informed regarding issues that are important and that you will intersect with, sooner or later. With thanks, Kim Patch How to donate:
