Lauren Maestas

ARS's Young Scientists

ARS is home to many amazing young minds. This month in our Young Scientists series, we feature Lauren Maestas, a research ecologist at the ARS Cattle Fever Tick Research Unit in Edinburg, Texas. Lauren focuses on the importance of wildlife and wildlife habitat use and how it can be used in creating predictive maps of tick density providing target areas of where to focus eradication efforts. Watch this video to learn more about Lauren's research.

The Agricultural Research Service is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific in-house research agency. Daily, ARS focuses on solutions to agricultural problems affecting America. Each dollar invested in U.S. agricultural research results in $20 of economic impact.
