A Message from Principal Peterson
As we wrap up the final school day of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful energy and enthusiasm that has filled our halls this week. Our Student Council Association (SCA) hosted an incredible Spirit Week that brought our Riverside community together in festive cheer. From Holiday Headgear to Ugly Sweaters to Pajama Day, it was fun to see students, staff, and even parents join in on the celebration. A big thank you to our SCA members and sponsors, Mrs. Mojica and Ms. Jolevski, for their creativity and leadership in organizing such a memorable week!

I am also thrilled to celebrate our “PERFECT 10” students. It was announced on December 2 that we would recognize all students who attended school every day in the month of December. I am proud to say that 412 students achieved perfect attendance in December! Our sixth graders had the most students in attendance every day with a total of 80. Mrs. White’s fifth grade class and Mr. Smith’s sixth grade class had the most students in attendance at 19. Our students’ commitment to learning and resilience during a busy time of year truly sets the bar high. Let’s continue encouraging our children to prioritize attendance, as every school day counts toward their growth and success.

As we head into Winter Break, I wish each of you a joyful and restful holiday season. Whether you’re celebrating traditions or simply enjoying time with loved ones, I hope this time brings peace and happiness to your family. School will resume on Monday, January 6, 2024, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back for an exciting new year! |

❄️ Be Among the First to Hear About School Delays/Closings
Watch this video to see how FCPS makes weather closing decisions.
FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.
Be among the first to hear about weather delays and closings! Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE. Emails and text messages are sent to parents and caregivers based on the addresses and cell phone numbers entered on this platform.
