The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved an amendment to Colorado’s section 1115 demonstration, “Expanding the Substance Use Disorder Continuum of Care.” Approval of this demonstration amendment will allow Colorado to provide (1) health-related social needs (HRSN) services and infrastructure support, (2) limited coverage for certain services furnished to certain incarcerated individuals for up to 90 days immediately prior to the individual’s expected date of release from state/local jails, state prisons, and youth correctional facilities, and (3) coverage for acute inpatient and residential stays in institutions for mental disease for individuals diagnosed with a serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance.
This demonstration is effective through December 31, 2025. Today’s amendment and other administrative documents can be found on the Medicaid.gov demonstration page.
