Good morning, DMV. It’s Monday, Jan. 20, and just hours after this newsletter lands in your inbox, the nation’s former president becomes president again. The winds are shifting, and it’s bitterly cold out. Everyone I talk to these days feels unsteady, frayed, insecure. I keep telling myself to focus on the ground beneath my feet, the small circle around me. I reach out to friends so we can go on outings and share meals, tea and sympathy. Some days I just can’t muster the energy. This weekend, my daughter baked chocolate chip cookies and pulled our friend-group together.
