Of all the new year’s resolutions out there in 2025, I hadn’t heard of the “dopamine detox” until writer Alex Cyr tackled the topic this week. How does it work? In short, you temporarily deprive yourself of one or more sources of stimuli that bring you pleasure – such as junk food, alcohol, social media, gambling or sex – robbing you of the ensuing high and ostensibly “rewiring” your brain.
