Our next Dining 4 Dollars with be at the Vienna Park/Maple Chipotle on Wednesday, January 22nd from 5 - 9 PM. Either tell them you are supporting Thoreau MS, show them this email, or for online orders use the code GPQ6KM8 for Chipotle to donate 25% of their profits to our school! It feels great to feed your family and support your students at the same time!
The 2025 Crosstown Hoops Student Interest Meeting will be taking place after-school on Monday January 27th during 1st session (2:25pm-3:20pm) in Eagle Hall. If any student is interested in trying out for the Crosstown Hoops teams, please attend the meeting where students will learn more information about the tryout and practice schedule. This meeting is only for students, not parents.
As a reminder, the Crosstown teams for both the boys and girls 7th and 8th grade are very competitive and not all students who attend the tryouts will make the teams. The coaches try to treat the Crosstown teams like high school teams, where students will make the teams based on their talent, attitude and dedication to the team. Parents, please remember that just because you may be interested in having your child play, does not automatically mean they will make the team.
Crosstown Hoops will take place on Thursday, April 3rd at Marshall High School. Stay tuned for details on t-shirt sales, ticket sales, volunteer opportunities, and event schedule. Questions can be directed to Alison McKee, alisonmckee0519@gmail.com. Thanks and Go Thoreau!!

Donate to Support Your Students!
We would appreciate a one-time donation of $50 per family, but are thrilled to receive any and all contributions. Donations are tax-deductible, and 100% of your contribution goes directly back to supporting our Thoreau Middle School students and staff. Your donations will help the PTA support our community throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Among other things, our Thoreau PTA:
- Organizes appreciation events for our teachers and staff regularly, such as pies at Thanksgiving and cookies before Winter Break
- Coordinates special events such as the 7th Grade Fall Social and 8th Grade End of Year Party
- Grants financial support to teachers and staff for classroom or program needs
