Healthier habits are just a few swaps away, from better-for-you recipes to movement hacks…
Think healthy living has to be difficult? Time to shift your mindset! Swap in these better-for-you lifestyle habits, and make this year a success. Here are six easy tips to help you make healthier choices in 2025… Ready, set, GO!

Instead of coffee-shop drinks, make lower sugar coffee drinks at home.

We love grabbing a Starbucks drink now and then, but doing so on the regular is spendy AND can lead to sipping more sugary calories than you realize. We’re big fans of mixing up our own lower-sugar concoctions at home…

Instead of sitting while watching TV, get moving... while still watching TV.

We’re not out here trying to tell you not to watch TV—there are way too many good shows out there. But instead of using those shows as an excuse to become one with your couch for hours, turn your little TV binge into movement time! Housewalking (aka walking inside your house) can be as simple as pacing back and forth in your living room, and walking treadmills have gotten a lot more storage-friendly and affordable. Ad break? Challenge yourself to get up and get moving for the entirety of each break.

Instead of always dining out or ordering in, turn to easy restaurant copycat recipes.

Restaurant visits and takeout nights adding up? We get it: It’s convenient and the food tastes GOOD. But if there are dishes you crave on the regular, why not learn healthier yet easy ways to make them at home? We have SO MANY RECIPES in the Hungry Girl database, many of them inspired by restaurant dishes—for example, our makeover of Carrabba's famous Chicken Bryan. Search for your favorites, and see what inspires you.

Instead of fighting your sweet tooth or giving into sugary sweets, keep lower-sugar options on hand.

We love sweet treats, you love sweet treats—so, eventually, you’re gonna crave candy and desserts. Rather than white-knuckling through and not letting yourself have anything OR just diving into the sugar with reckless abandon, give yourself some middle ground.

Instead of skipping breakfast because you don't have time, plan ahead.

Whether or not you agree that it’s “the most important meal of the day,” breakfast is definitely smart for a healthy lifestyle. So, if you often find yourself heading out the door having had nothing but coffee, we have some alternatives to consider. Option 1: Make-ahead breakfast recipes. Option 2: Store-bought breakfast options.

Instead of an all-or-nothing attitude, embrace the 80/20 mindset.

No recipes or products to recommend here—this one’s all about you. As we get closer to the end of January, it’s easy to beat yourself up over healthy resolutions that you might have abandoned (or may be on the verge of abandoning). The 80/20 idea is all about accepting that if you make mindful & healthy choices most of the time, you can loosen up the rest of the time. Don’t set yourself up for failure by saying that you’re either “on” a diet or (because you had a bad day) that you’re now “off” of it… Just do the best you can, whatever that looks like. Take it meal by meal!
