One of the things that’s not getting as much attention as it should in this DeepSeek effect on the market: the implication of what they’ve done is that the cost of consuming useful AI is not going to be nearly as expensive as we thought.

Companies at the App layer (eg SaaS companies like Salesforce) — if they’ve got their AI act together (meaning they’re deploying effectively) — are really going to benefit. And the AI tax they have to pay won’t be nearly as high as we thought. As far as I can tell that is worthy news that needs to be told.

Amazon as a new-age bundling of content company is a good pivot. The number of streaming content providers is too large to manage. Sports fans already are unhappy with ESPN+, Netflix, Peacock Premium, Paramount+, Prime Video, etc. all being required just to watch sports. Amazon's advantage over other bundlers is their current base of Amazon shoppers, inaccessible to Comcast or other content bundlers.
