The world’s richest man is trying to seize control of the American government to advance his own far-right agenda, and he’s doing so in blatant violation of the Constitution. Somehow, it’s an under-reported story.
Elon Musk and aides loyal to him have accessed federal payment systems and combed through employee records, including millions of Americans’ sensitive personal information. He’s forced out career civil servants from critical positions and replaced them with inexperienced lackeys. He’s even already summarily tried to dissolve one of the world’s largest aid agencies.
Musk’s end game is more than just slashing federal spending and regulations. He’s sidestepping an already friendly Congress, indicating that he wishes to elevate himself above the existing branches of government. American voters didn’t elect Musk, but he’s playing a key role in dismantling our institutions and oversight of the executive branch.
