The Authors Guild, the largest professional organization for published writers in the U.S., has launched "Human Authored," an initiative allowing wordsmiths to certify their work as AI-free. Members register books through an online portal and use a special logo to ensure that their writing stems from human intellect. The guild plans to expand access beyond its 15,000 members, seeking to foster trust and transparency between authors and readers amid the rapid uptake of AI in creative industries.
Russian-German pianist Igor Levit is expected to spend 22 hours playing a world-first performance of "Vexations" by the French composer Erik Satie. The 1893 avant-classical work "fits on a single sheet of music," The Times of London said, but Satie instructed that it should be played 840 times in succession. This spring in London, under the direction of performance artist Marina Abramovic, Levit will attempt to become the first solo musician to perform the "almost unplayable" whole piece in front of a live audience.
