Sunday Best: How to handle a Covid Thanksgiving
Economists, grandmothers and Dr. Fauci weigh in.

Thanksgiving is only four days away, but many are faltering on their previously laid plans. How can you plan for the day when record numbers of coronavirus cases and tougher restrictions suggest gathering indoors could be a recipe for disaster, if it’s not banned outright?

Our writers have also been wrestling with the uncertainties surrounding the holidays, so they sought to answer some of the most burning questions by turning to experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci, investigating the true size of a previously thought to be secure Covid-19 bubble and offering solutions for pandemic fatigue.

Such questions are only going to increase in relevance as we head deeper into the holiday season. So while as a Brit I’ll not be joining in the Thanksgiving festivities, I will be taking note of how the day pans out for my American friends. I hope that however you end up celebrating and whomever you celebrate with (or without), the day is a happy one.

“I wish there were a magic bullet for behavior change, but there isn’t. We have to recognize the futility of relying exclusively on our current approaches, and then look for something new.

“Few people in my circle follow Anthony Fauci’s guidelines or CDC recommendations. It’s made me wonder, “Am I the one who’s crazy?”

Are We Seriously Talking About Closing Schools Again?

“We should not be having large weddings. We should not be going to public events. We should not be eating indoors at restaurants. We should not be drinking indoors at bars.” But schools? “Schools are different.
